Patrick Gee, DPT, CMP
Clinic Director
Doctor of Physical Therapy
President and Founder

Dr. Patrick Gee founded G Sports Physical Therapy, Inc. to assemble the best sports and orthopedic physical therapists in the San Francisco Bay Area.  He earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy from Columbia University and specializes in the rehabilitation of sports injuries of the shoulder, elbow, knee, and complex conditions of the spine. Dr. Gee was a member of the Wellness Team for the U.S. Open 2012 Golf Championships. He has over 10 years of experience helping injured rock climbers, mountain bikers, tennis players, and golfers return to their sports successfully. Dr. Gee is currently only one of four physical therapists to achieve the Certified Mulligan Practitioner (CMP) status in San Francisco; a highly skilled manual therapy concept to relieve pain and restore motion of any joint in the body. He has been a clinical instructor for physical therapy students from UCSF, UOP, USC, Columbia University, and Samuel Merritt University. Dr. Gee has also been an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association since 2001.
 

   
Justin Jellin, DPT, ART
Marketing Lead
Doctor of Physical Therapy

Dr. Justin Jellin earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy at University of the Pacific, in addition to an undergraduate degree in Sports Sciences.  He has a special interest in treating athletes involved in running, skiing, and crew. Whether it is low back pain, ankle instability, or baby boomer generation injuries, Dr. Jellin enjoys helping all athletes return to their pre-injury level of performance.  He has been certified in Active Release Technique (ART), which is very effective in correcting overuse injuries in muscles, tendons, and ligaments. Dr. Jellin was a practical examiner at UOP and continues his involvement on the University Alumni Board. Outside of clinical practice, he is an accomplished musician in both classical trumpet and guitar.  Dr. Jellin has been a member of the APTA since 2010.
 
 

   

Meggie Safford, DPT, SCS, CSCS
Doctor of Physical Therapy

Dr. Meggie Safford earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from University of Miami in Florida. She has been a Sports Certified Specialist in physical therapy since 2014, and she is 1 of 3 certified specialists in San Francisco. Dr. Safford has a passion for treating active individuals of all levels, from the weekend warrior to high level athletes. Dr. Safford is certified in Graston Technique, an instrument-assisted method for breaking down soft tissue adhesions and fascial restrictions. She is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist since 2010 and a Functional Movement Screen Expert since 2012. Dr. Safford looks at full body movement to return her patients to their prior level of function while educating them on ways to prevent future injuries. Dr. Safford has been a member of the American Physical Therapy Association since 2008. Outside of work, Dr. Safford enjoys snowboarding, running, and sightseeing around Northern California.

 

   

Sarah Jay, DPT
Doctor of Physical Therapy


Dr. Sarah Jay is a Bay Area native and was first introduced to the world of physical therapy in her undergraduate studies at UC Irvine. She earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at Howard University in Washington, DC and has returned to the Bay Area. She has always taken an interest in orthopedic and sports related injuries and completed a research study on running related injuries. She enjoys working with athletes of all skill levels to help them return to what they love doing. Dr. Jay believes that rehab is a team effort and encourages her patients to be active in their recovery process by creating individualized and innovative treatment plans that meet the patient's goals. In the future, she hopes to give back to the profession by sharing her experiences and helping aspiring physical therapists reach their goal. When not treating patients, you’ll find Sarah exploring new things, whether it be the outdoors, new restaurants, or new cities.

 

   

Matthew D'Elena, DPT
Doctor of Physical Therapy

Dr. Matthew D’Elena discovered his passion for physical therapy during his undergraduate studies at California State University Chico, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Physiology. He then went on to earn his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at University of the Pacific. Being a competitive basketball and soccer player for most of his life, he has always had a special interest in sports related injuries and published research on the effects of ankle braces on athletic performance. Dr. D’Elena believes in a functional rehabilitation approach and strives to ensure his patients reach their movement and athletic goals. Outside of clinical practice he is involved in academia, serving as a practical examiner for physical therapy students and has been part of the APTA since 2013. Additionally, he enjoys playing basketball, hiking, and traveling.

 


   

Lupe Gamez-Amaya
PT Aide

Lupe Gamez recently received her Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology from San Francisco State University and has her goal set on becoming a Doctor of Physical Therapy. Having been a physical therapy patient herself multiple times, she has a genuine passion for helping those going through physical rehabilitation. As a PT Aide, Lupe looks forward to helping you with your exercises and recovery modalities under the guidance of your physical therapist so that you can get back to doing the activities that you love. When not at GSPORTS or in class, she enjoys running at the beach, watching her favorite soccer team, and spending quality time with friends and family.

 

Winnie Pang
PT Aide

Winnie Pang  received a  Bachelor of Science in Exercise Biology from the University of California, Davis. As part of your physical rehabilitation team she  will help guide you through therapeutic exercises and modalities under the instruction of your physical therapist. When Winnie isn’t working to help patients return to doing what they love, she  enjoys exploring new places, eating good food, building her strength at the gym, and doing odd jobs around the house.


 



 

 Jenesis Imai
Practice Administrator

Jenesis Imai is the Practice Administrator for GSPORTS and works behind the scenes to make your experience better.  Jenesis is always happy to discuss your insurance or billing questions. She is originally from Hawaii and obtained a Master of Arts in Social Psychology at San Francisco State University in 2016. In her free time, Jenesis indulges in her plethora of interests by hiking to and photographing breathtaking scenery, drinking craft beer, crafting (currently: embriodery), and dabbling in rock climbing and AcroYoga.

 

Ayesha Achakzai
Front Office Coordinator

Ayesha graduated from California State University, East Bay in 2014 with a BA in Sociology. She is in the process of deciding in  which field she will be pursuing further education.  As the afternoon Office Manager, Ayesha enjoys working with the diversity of patients that come to the clinic and handling the various tasks that accompany their patient care.  In her free time, she loves adventures of all kinds and is a huge fan of the gym, hiking, and music/social festivals.

 

 

 


SAN FRANCISCO SOMA STAFF

Michael Ng, DPT
Clinic Director
Doctor of Physical Therapy

 Dr. Michael Ng is the Clinic Director of our SF SOMA office.  He specializes in the rehabilitation of sports injuries of the shoulder, knee, hip, and foot.  He earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy from UCSF and San Francisco State University.  Dr. Ng was also a member of the Wellness Team for the U.S. Open 2012 Golf Championships.  Dr. Ng is a family practitioner and is best known for his hands-on approach, applying manual therapy techniques as an effective adjunct to customized therapeutic exercises.  He has been certified in Active Release Technique (ART), which is effective in correcting overuse injuries in muscles, tendons, and ligaments.  Dr. Ng enjoys helping athletes recover from throwing, swimming, volleyball, and running injuries.  He proctors orthopedic physical therapy exams at UCSF when he has time and has been a member of the American Physical Therapy Association since 2008. 
 

Anthony Harrell, DPT, CSCS
Doctor of Physical Therapy

Dr. Anthony Harrell received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the UCSF/ San Francisco State University physical therapy program. He enjoys integrating strength and conditioning principles with rehabilitation in order to help maximize patient function and help them achieve their goals. Dr. Harrell treats across the human performance spectrum and utilizes manual therapy, exercise, and patient education as part of a multimodal approach. With a background in wildland firefighting and current service as an officer and physical therapist in the United States Army Reserve, he has a special interest in serving and contributing to the growth of medical knowledge within the tactical community. He remains an active volunteer to the UCSF/SFSU physical therapy program, contributes content for firefighter health and wellness, and is an involved member with the American Physical Therapy Association.

 



Vanesa Rosilla
PT Aide

Vanesa Rosillo is a San Francisco Native who recently received her Bachelor’s of Science in Kinesiology from San Jose State University and plans to continue her education to become a Doctor of Physical Therapy. As the full-time PT Aide at SOMA, Vanesa is committed to helping you return to the activities you love to do. She is available to assist you through your therapeutic exercises and ensure your visit runs as smoothly as possible. During her spare time, Vanesa enjoys playing soccer, walking her dog, and baking.

Jacqueline Perez, DPT, OCS
Doctor of Physical Therapy
Clinic Director


Dr. Jacqueline Perez is the Clinic Director of our Berkeley office.  She specializes in the rehabilitation of injuries from dance and performing arts. She has 20 years of dance training from ballet, to belly dancing, to ballroom and enjoys working with dancers of all levels and practices.  She obtained her Masters as well as her Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Saint Louis University.  Dr. Perez started her career in St Louis, Missouri, where she specialized in Myofascial Release and became the head PT at a chronic pain clinic.  Since moving to San Francisco, she has been practicing outpatient orthopedics with a focus on worker's compensation care.  Dr. Perez is a member of the APTA and has been a clinical instructor for students of several physical therapy schools, including UCSF and Marquette University. 

 


   

Andrew Monteleone, DPT
Doctor of Physical Therapy

Dr. Andrew Monteleone earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at Washington University in St. Louis.  Originally from the east coast, he was drawn to the Bay Area by the many outdoor opportunities.  During his undergraduate studies at the University of Connecticut, from which he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science, he discovered a passion for physical therapy.  In college he worked as a rock climbing instructor for several years and as a kayak guide in Alaska for a summer.  In conjunction with his formal education, both of these experiences helped to foster his desire to help others achieve their full potential during physical activity.  In the clinic, Dr. Monteleone places an emphasis on analyzing movement impairments and works with each patient to develop appropriate strategies in order to optimize movement.  In his free time, he enjoys hiking, climbing, skiing, and running.
 

     

Michelle Rice, DPT
Doctor of Physical Therapy

Dr. Michelle Rice is an East Bay native that returned to California following graduation from the Doctorate of Physical Therapy program at Columbia University in the New York City. While at Columbia, Dr. Rice developed a passion for working with runners while working in Columbia’s RunLab during which she gained experience in the analysis of running mechanics of beginner through elite level runners. Dr. Rice has been a lifelong athlete, playing 4 years of collegiate Lacrosse at UCLA in addition to completing multiple marathons (Nike Women’s Marathon, New York City Marathon).  Outside of the clinic, Dr. Rice also enjoys hiking, singing, scuba diving, and traveling.

 



 
   

Julia Mandapat
PT Aide

Julia is a bay area native who received her B.S. in Kinesiology with a concentration in Exercise Science from Sacramento State. As a PT Aide at the Berkeley clinic she is ready to assist you with your exercises and modalities as directed by our physical therapists. You can ask her any questions or chat with her about the games of the week. During her spare time, Julia enjoys spending time with her Jack Russell, Noelle, being outside, and watching anything related to the Golden State Warriors. Julia is eager to help you stay on track to get you back in the game, playing with your children, or returning to your favorite activities.

              

 

   

Hector Rivera
PT Aide and Office Assistant

Hector completed his Bachelor of Sciences in Physiological Sciences from the University of California, Los Angeles. He is in the clinic every morning ready to help you with exercises, modalities, and the occasional joke of the day. Hector enjoys following and playing sports, catching local improv shows and spending time with family when away from GSPORTS.

 

 

 

 

   


Enoch Yee
PT Aide and Office Assistant

Enoch Yee completed his Bachelor of Arts in Exercise Biology at the University of California, Davis. As the morning PT Aide and Office Assistant, he is available to assist you with your therapeutic exercises and schedule your appointments. Aside from enriching your GSPORTS experience, Enoch is an avid basketball player, trombonist, and personal trainer.
